As of version 2.5, all versions of Cuevision Server Monitor except Lite run as a service

Do I need to install agents?

No, Cuevision Server Monitor is an agentless monitoring system

How many copies of Cuevision Server Monitor should I buy?

The number of copies depends on the size of your network and how you want to monitor it. There is a limit of 100 monitors that you can add to a single professional license. If your needs exceed 100 monitors or because of physical limitations such as disk space, CPU power, and RAM, you may need to install more than one copy of Cuevision Server Monitor. The amount of disk space, CPU power, and RAM that is required depends on the frequency and type of monitors that you need.

Multiple licenses are ideal for customers who need more than 100 monitors or those that want to run Cuevision Server Monitor in different locations, such as in multiple locations within the internal IP network and on the external IP network (internet) such as in cases where they want to monitor the availability and load times of web pages or check the availability of hosts. Companies with self-managed departments, a help desk, or an operations center, find multiple licenses ideal for giving each department control of what they want to monitor and how they want to be notified.

For customers that require multiple licenses, they have the option of purchasing a site license which allows for 5 installations for a total of 500 monitors in a single physical location. Enterprise customers should purchase the Enterprise license which allows unlimited installs and unlimited monitors.

If you want to monitor websites, ping servers, or other devices, you can install the software on any computer that gives you the view you need. I created a monitor and setup a local popup message or network message but the notification was never sent when the alert was triggered.

The messenger service must be running, make sure it is set to Automatic so that it restarts when the machine is rebooted.

Yes. Separate the names or email addresses with semicolons.

I can't start the program, it just closes or I get an error message about midas.dll, what is wrong?

If you install in more than one directory or uninstall/reinstall, midas.dll may not be registered correctly. Run regsvr32.exe /u midas.dll to unregister it, then run regsvr32.exe midas.dll to reregister it. Don't forget to include the full path of midas.dll which is the Cuevision Server Monitor home directory.

I configured an email recovery action and when I test it, I always get a message indicating that the password, username, etc may not be configured correctly?

This problem only occurs when connecting to Microsoft Exchange servers, it was resolved in version 1.0.10

Why can't I send Email through Cuevision Server Monitor? My SMTP mail server sits behind a Microsoft Proxy Server.

Make sure that the SMTP protocol is allowed through the Proxy server. Ensure that the Microsoft Proxy Client is installed on the machine that Cuevision Server Monitor is running on.

I setup the smtp settings properly for mail and I can send email to my account and other accounts in the same domain but all other emails fail, why?

You are likely trying to send mail to a server on a different domain than the one that you are on and the mail server does not allow relaying. Try using a mail server on the current domain.
