HTTP/HTTPS Monitor
|
The HTTP and HTTPS monitor allows you to monitor the status of a webpage that uses the HTTP or secure HTTP (HTTPS) protocol. The load time of the page is monitored and compared against a threshold that you set. The page is also monitored for either the return code or content on the page.
Add a new HTTP Monitor
Add a new HTTP monitor to the console by selecting File -> new -> monitor -> HTTP
Add a new HTTPS Monitor
Add a new HTTPS monitor to the console by selecting File -> new -> monitor -> HTTPS
Configure an HTTP/HTTPS Monitor
Give the monitor a descriptive display name.
Enter the URL of the website that you want to monitor
Check the proxy option if your internet connection uses a proxy server. If this option is selected, the proxy settings must be configured under Tools -> Options -> Proxy tab. See the related help topic for more information.
If the webpage requires a login, enter the credentials in the user name and password boxes.
The interval setting is the time in seconds between checks to the site.
By default, the monitor will expect that a 200 - OK code is returned from a web page. You can change this by selecting the Details button. You can monitor whether or not a particular code is returned from a web page. For example, you may want to create a monitor that sends you and your team an email when a 500 code is returned from your website. You would select the 'Header response code contain's' option and enter '500' in the box.
You can also monitor the page for the existence of text. If you wanted to make sure that the phrase 'My Company Name', you would select the 'Body contains' option and then enter the text. You can also monitor the text does not exist.
You can add the monitor to the root or select an alternate container from the drop down list.
