Ping Monitor
|
The ping monitor checks to see if a device is alive by sending it an ICMP packet and checking the response.
Add a New Ping Monitor
Add a new ping monitor to the console by selecting File -> new -> monitor -> ping
Configure a Ping Monitor
Enter a descriptive display name
Enter the host name or ip address of the device you want to monitor.
The interval field determines how often the monitor is executed.
The maximum response time is the time in milliseconds that you allow for a response to come back, anything greater than that is triggers an alarm.
Check the proxy option if your internet connection uses a proxy server. If this option is selected, the proxy settings must be configured under Tools -> Options -> Proxy tab. See the related help topic for more information.
Discover Devices
You can also discover devices in your network and add them at the same time instead of one by one. Discovery is available from the Tools menu, select network discovery. See the help section on 'discovery' for further information
You can add the monitor to the root or select an alternate container from the drop down list.
